Seward Montessori's Parent Book Club: Thursday, April 1st, 6:30-8:00 p.m. on Zoom

  Seward Parent Book Club has been meeting since the 2018 school year. The purpose of the group is to build community and to reflect on race, racism, and identity within Seward Montessori and in our lives. If you have been thinking of joining, this is a perfect time to join the book club, since we are beginning a new book! Information for the next meeting is below. Join us! We are welcoming ALL voices!   Thursday, April 1st from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. As you know, Seward will be welcoming a new school principal for the 2021-2022 school year. We need to select a leader that embodies the right values, skills, and knowledge to serve our community. Associate Superintendent Brian Zambreno will attend this zoom call to outline the process for selecting a principal. Parents will be invited to share their ideas/perspectives on the following question: What should be the criteria for participating in the selection committee? (The selection committee will be comprised of parents and staff; our Associate Superintendent will lay this all out.) Spring Break Travel Guideline from State Health Officials & Minneapolis Public Schools

Personal Spring Break Travel- As families and staff anticipate personal spring break travel, please be aware of current travel guidelines for your destinations. Currently, travelers returning from   Level 3 countries   will be asked by both State Health Officials and Minneapolis Public Schools to   self-quarantine for 14 days   (no in-person school or work) upon their return.  MPS respectfully asks families to follow current state and federal travel guidelines and self-report to schools any restrictions, so all students in our school communities can continue learning. Registration is now open   for MPS’ summer program: Summer Scholars!   Enroll your student in Summer Scholars to experience more this summer through innovative, immersive experiences that challenge your child to explore a world of possibilities both in and out of the classroom. They’ll learn as they forge their own path, dream up new ideas, and find meaning in everything they create. All this as they discover endless ways to connect with one another and their interests.   Author Visits By Julie Lillie, Literacy Specialist- It wouldn’t be our annual Read Around celebration without author visits!  We are so thankful to the PTA for supporting and funding these visits so our children can have experiences with and learn from published authors.  This year, we had virtual author visits - they were a hit! Children’s House heard books, sang songs and viewed a live illustration by authors Trisha and Stephan Speed Shaskan .   You can purchase books by the Shaskans from this virtual Red Balloon Bookshop . COVID-19 Testing for Students and Families & Daily Screening Questions Before School

COVID-19 Testing for Students and Families The Minnesota Department of Health recommends all youth returning to school or taking part in  youth sports or other activities get tested every two weeks through the end of the school  year.   Testing is free.   Families of students are also encouraged to get tested. While it is not a requirement, regular testing ,  along with wearing masks and social distancing, can help stop the spread of COVID-19.  Visit  https://mn.gov/covid19/get-tested/ on the MDH website or contact your health care provider to  schedule an appointment. Not all testing centers require appointments.   Daily Screening Questions Before School   1. Does your child have ONE OR MORE of these symptoms?  ☐ Fever of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher ☐ Difficulty/hard time breathing ☐ New cough or a cough that gets worse ☐ New loss of taste or smell     2.
