Longfellow Nokomis Messenger Offers Free Graduate Recognition

Hello, folks! The class of 2020 has it tough, and the Longfellow Nokomis Messenger wants to help you do something special for them. We have launched an online feature to help parents tell the world how proud they are of their grad - from kindergarten, grade 5, grade 8, high school, and college. We are offering a free photo and listing of a graduate’s sports, honors, and activities. Parents who want to really make a splash can, with an expanded page.

Monday, May 9 - Day of Advocacy Full Funding of Special Education

Parents, community organizations, school board members and district officials from across Minnesota will be participating in a day of advocacy to push lawmakers and Governor Walz to fully fund special education. Monday, May 9th we will gather at the State Capitol and online to  urge lawmakers to use 9% of the state surplus to fully fund special education .   In Person  - The State Capitol is open to the public and we plan on gathering on  Monday, May 9th . Committee and legislators' schedules are a bit fluid this time of session. We have a tentative schedule of events for the day but will update the group when Monday's schedule is announced. We are asking those who plan on attending to do two things:   1. Wear RED . We will be sporting the color red to help lawmakers know that we are there to support full funding for special education. Seward Montessori has AMAZING teachers and staff! Please help us celebrate them.

Here are some ways you can help between now and Friday, June 11. Each year we host a Staff Appreciation lunch on the Monday after school lets out for the year. This year that is Monday, June 14th. Normally we would ask you to provide baked goods and entrees to share with our staff, however, this year (as we ALL know) is different. We are planning to have the lunch catered for health/safety reasons and so in lieu of asking families to provide homemade food, we are asking for cash donations to be used toward food instead.    Here are some ways you can help between now and Friday, June 11 Drop off gift cards (in any denomination) at the office. These can be for local restaurants/businesses, Target, Amazon, & anywhere else you think school staff might frequent. They will be used as giveaways at the lunch . If you can't drop them off at school, you can also email e-gift cards to  volunteer@sewardmontessori.com and we will be sure they are used for our teachers/staff! Drop off cash
