MPS Budget Cut, Updated Documents from MFT and Seward ESP Steward

Image
Dear Seward Families, Last week, MFT Strike Captains, Stewards, and the Joint Executive board were presented with an analysis of the proposed district cuts. Researcher/financial analyst, Lucy Scharbach, has done a deep dive into MPS’s finances for us to analyze the budget cut situation and we now have a two-pager to summarize -  here is the most recent version .  Please feel free to pass it around, and to adapt  this template e-mail to school board members  to send it directly to them! If we are interested in inviting a school board member to visit our school let me know. MFT is hearing great stories of school board members visiting schools from yesterday and last week, and this is the number one thing that will make a difference in this fight against harmful and unnecessary budget cuts. Tonight at the Davis Center, MFT will hold an  informational picket tonight at 4:45  and we’ll encourage the community to stay for the school board meeting at 5:30pm to support MFT members,

The MPS Parent Legislative Action Committee is also asking State Senators to fully fund Special Education and English Learner programs, the MN House has passed their version of the Omnibus E-12 education bill, we are waiting on and need to push our State Senators. The legislative session ends this month. Action Alert is here . 3. Ask for a state audit of MPS finances by emailing or
