Parent Liason News from Kerry Cashman


Good news! Families can volunteer inside the school again this year. To do this, you must attend an orientation first. (If you have done one before, you don't need to again.) There are in-person and zoom options for the orientation.

 

Kerry Cashman, Kerry.Cashman@mpls.k12.mn.us, Parent Liason, will be providing volunteer orientation:

In-Person at the school garden: October 5th & October 13th at 9:45 AM. 

 

Zoom: September 28th or October 12th at 5:00 PM, September 29th or October 6th at 8:00 AM. 

 

A strong community is ESSENTIAL to Seward Montessori! The Seward Montessori Parent Teacher Association is run by volunteer parents. The PTA raises funds for programming, curriculum and community building at Seward. Potential volunteer opportunities include: room parent (organizing parent/student gatherings and communication to parents), Sharks Bike, spring plant sale, picture day, gardening, Read Around book sale in early 2022. If you are interested in volunteering for a PTA activity, please email Christian Novak at chair@sewardmontessori.org

News from Science: Karen Utter E1 Students Learning about Air E1 is learning about Air and Weather. So far we have learned that air is a gas and is all around us. We’ve been introduced to the terms: air resistance, compressed air and air pressure. We’ve learned that air takes up space and that it is stronger than all of us when it’s in a space it can’t escape from.    E2 has started learning about Motion and Force.  We learned that a force is a push or pull and that the scientific word for creating motion is “applying a force.” We discussed speed, direction and gravity. Congratulations Mary Delander - we will miss you!

  Dear PTA, Spring is in the air.  And so is retirement. After 28 years, it's time to say goodbye. *I remember Melissa Ericksen before she was married. (Her children are now in college.) *I remember Anna Lethert as a Seward kindergartner. (Anna now teaches E-1) *I held Noah Mammen as a new born baby. (Noah is part of the Student Support team.) I've loved this job.   When I think of the PTA through the years, my heart fills with awe.  You've all made Seward the school that it is.  Strong in community.  A gift.  From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
