Spring Break Travel Guideline from State Health Officials & Minneapolis Public Schools

Personal Spring Break Travel-

As families and staff anticipate personal spring break travel, please be aware of current travel guidelines for your destinations. Currently, travelers returning from Level 3 countries will be asked by both State Health Officials and Minneapolis Public Schools to self-quarantine for 14 days (no in-person school or work) upon their return. 

MPS respectfully asks families to follow current state and federal travel guidelines and self-report to schools any restrictions, so all students in our school communities can continue learning. Thank you.

Monday, May 9 - Day of Advocacy Full Funding of Special Education

Parents, community organizations, school board members and district officials from across Minnesota will be participating in a day of advocacy to push lawmakers and Governor Walz to fully fund special education. Monday, May 9th we will gather at the State Capitol and online to  urge lawmakers to use 9% of the state surplus to fully fund special education .   In Person  - The State Capitol is open to the public and we plan on gathering on  Monday, May 9th . Committee and legislators' schedules are a bit fluid this time of session. We have a tentative schedule of events for the day but will update the group when Monday's schedule is announced. We are asking those who plan on attending to do two things:   1. Wear RED . We will be sporting the color red to help lawmakers know that we are there to support full funding for special education. Congratulations Mary Delander - we will miss you!

  Dear PTA, Spring is in the air.  And so is retirement. After 28 years, it's time to say goodbye. *I remember Melissa Ericksen before she was married. (Her children are now in college.) *I remember Anna Lethert as a Seward kindergartner. (Anna now teaches E-1) *I held Noah Mammen as a new born baby. (Noah is part of the Student Support team.) I've loved this job.   When I think of the PTA through the years, my heart fills with awe.  You've all made Seward the school that it is.  Strong in community.  A gift.  From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
