Thurs. Seward Insider: Dreambox


Seward Montessori is continuing its partnership with DreamBox Learning’s Math Program. Dreambox is an Intelligent Adaptive Learning(™) program.

Your student can access DreamBox Learning from any computer using this link:

https://play.dreambox.com/login/ckmd/sewardm

Letters with this link, instructions on how to set up a Parent Account, and student user IDs and passwords have either been sent home already or will be sent home in the next week.

Dreambox is an online program - there’s no software to download. All you need is an internet connection and Adobe Flash (free and included in many browsers).

You may also access DreamBox on an iPad by going to http://www.dreambox.com/ipad. When prompted in the app, use the School Code:

ckmd/sewardm

DreamBox learns your student’s ability level after about 1 hour of play. Please allow DreamBox to do its work by NOT HELPING your child. This can be HARD, but it is the best way to get DreamBox to work for YOUR student.

News from Science: Karen Utter E1 Students Learning about Air E1 is learning about Air and Weather. So far we have learned that air is a gas and is all around us. We’ve been introduced to the terms: air resistance, compressed air and air pressure. We’ve learned that air takes up space and that it is stronger than all of us when it’s in a space it can’t escape from.    E2 has started learning about Motion and Force.  We learned that a force is a push or pull and that the scientific word for creating motion is “applying a force.” We discussed speed, direction and gravity. Congratulations Mary Delander - we will miss you!

  Dear PTA, Spring is in the air.  And so is retirement. After 28 years, it's time to say goodbye. *I remember Melissa Ericksen before she was married. (Her children are now in college.) *I remember Anna Lethert as a Seward kindergartner. (Anna now teaches E-1) *I held Noah Mammen as a new born baby. (Noah is part of the Student Support team.) I've loved this job.   When I think of the PTA through the years, my heart fills with awe.  You've all made Seward the school that it is.  Strong in community.  A gift.  From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
