Seward’s Read Around 2022 - Adventures in Reading - is almost here! It will start Mon., February 7 and go for four weeks. This is our annual read-a-thon and school-wide celebration of reading!
How it works: Your child will bring home a Read Around packet on Fri., February 4 that includes a reading record and pledge form. The packet will also be emailed around and online at the PTA web site. We encourage students to read at home every day and record the time in their reading record. We have minimum reading amounts per day by grade level. Reading aloud to your child counts too! And teachers may supervise some limited in-school reading.
In-school activities too, organized by staff: Each grade level will get to hear from a visiting author, and E2 classes will get to do a mini-residency this year. There will be weekly riddles, a Flashlight Friday, Pajama Day, and reading crafts. The weekly virtual storytimes in the evening featuring staff and families will be back - every Wed. in February from 6:30-7 pm! And all kids will get to bring home free books donated by other families.
Fundraising, t-shirts, and prizes: This is our largest PTA fundraiser. Students are encouraged to ask friends and family to pledge money for their reading. All students who meet reading goals get Shark stickers, and students who raise certain amounts also get other prizes and Read Around t-shirts. We know all students won't be able to do this, which is fine! We want all students to participate. This year we are focusing on having more sponsorships available for prizes/t-shirts for all kids. Top readers also get to attend special events with Principal Ana and AP Clare.

¡Ya viene el Read Around de Seward del año 2022 - Aventuras en lectura! El Read Around va a empezar el lunes 7 de febrero y continuar por 4 semanas. Este es el Read-a-Thon anual y una celebración de lectura de toda la escuela.
Cómo funciona: Su hijo traerá a casa un paquete el viernes 4 de febrero que incluye un registro de lectura y formulario de compromiso. El paquete también será enviado por correo electrónico y será publicado en línea en el sitio web de la PTA. Alentamos a los estudiantes para leer en casa todos los días y registrar el tiempo en su registro de lectura. Tenemos minutos mínimos de lectura cada día por nivel de grado.
